Emily usually brings them home from her local natural foods store in Lenox, MA. But I think you can get them at farmers’ markets as well. Unfortunately the season is very short and I think they are mostly gone now. However, Whole Foods and other such stores should sell them in the frozen aisle. Just let them defrost and strain them to dry well before using if you’re making my green chickpea salad.
Although the growing season is currently dormant in the Northeastern U.S., you can still find some great storage produce such as apples, pears, and root vegetables. In addition, hearty greens such as kale and winter spinach provide some much needed color to your winter kitchen.
